Review | Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

Hello all!

Today I have a review of the Naked 2 palette which I have been using for almost a year now. I know this palette has been around for a little while already, however I thought I'd still give you my thoughts!

Packaging

First of all, I love the packaging because I feel that it is very secure and protected! The palette comes in a metal tin with a snap closure on both sides. I have taken this palette back and forth from school (I live in the dorms during the week) to home and none of the shadows have broken, and overall it is very sturdy!
There is a nice full mirror included that is wonderful!
Also, this palette came with a mini Naked Lip Junkie lipgloss which I love! It smells very nice and is the perfect "my-lips-but-better" color!

Colors
My photo does not do the colors justice. In person the colors are slightly darker.
The Naked 2 palette consists of all neutral colors, yet they are in no way boring or bland. I don't own the original Naked palette, however I have swatched the colors in stores and I believe that if you have the original then you do not need the Naked 2 version. They both are different enough, but you can get by with just one of the two. I liked the Naked 2 compared to the first one because the colors are more warm-toned. Plus, the packaging did sway my opinion a little too!

The pigmentation is wonderful! When I first received my palette I was slightly disappointed because I had a lot of fallout. I'm not sure if this is because I wasn't using a primer at the time or if it was because it was so new that they were a little dusty. Once I used a primer (I used Benefit's Stay Don't Stray, which you can find here) I no longer had fallout and the colors showed up so much better! Please, take my word for it and use a primer.... another good one is from e.l.f. for only a dollar! e.l.f. eyeshadow primer

Foxy is a really nice all over shade that brightens up the eyes. I often apply this as my base color to counteract some darkness in my inner corners. It is super matte, so you don't have to worry about looking like a fairy, which isn't always a bad thing ;)
Half-Baked is a shimmery gold that I don't use very often. Sometimes I feel as though it can be too yellow, but overall it is a nice shade, especially against a tan!
Bootycall- what a name! Haha. I like to use this as a highlighting shade in the inner corners of my eyes and occasionally under my brow bone. It isn't too sparkly, yet it does catch the light nicely in my opinion.
Chopper is a somewhat chunky but not really. I don't really know how to describe the texture... it's kinda smooth but not buttery either. I find this one to be unique. I do like it, but it's not my favorite either.
Tease is buttery smooth and the perfect transition shade as well as being a good shade for the outer corner. I find that this shade works well with whatever you blend it with. At first it looks like it is very purple, but it is manageable and blends nicely! Definitely one that I use a lot.
Snakebite is my favorite color to use on my lower lash line! It has some shimmer, yet it isn't too much at all. It isn't too dark either-which I love! Recently I've noticed that this color looks kinda bumpy and rough in the pan... not quite sure why though.
Suspect-ah! My favorite color of the palette! This color has the same amount of shimmer as snakebite, yet since it is lighter the light catches it a little more. I use this all over my lid before I darken up the outer corner. Sometimes this color can come across as being a little gray/silver and other times it comes across as being in the champagne category. Along with tease I find this color to blend well with others so nicely. I can use this with snakebite in the outer corner or with tease and either way it looks good! It also looks good on its own!
Pistol- I honestly can't review this in too much depth because I don't use this shade. It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I prefer the more tan neutral shades if that makes sense.
Verve- Again, I don't really use this shade. I feel like it would be really nice if worn for a New Year's Eve party! I should definitely give them another try though :)
YDK- Another love of mine! This shade is more on the chunky side, but it isn't anything that you can't work with. It is also kinda flaky so be careful! The flaky bits do blend onto the eyelid though, so keep that in mind! This is a nice sparkly shade that I can use anywhere. It is so pretty! It is also nice worn alone.
Busted is darker than snakebite, and I only ever use it for lining. It has a very slight shimmer if you can even call it that. It would also be nice for a more smokey look!
Blackout is a nice black matte. I don't usually line my eyes with black, but I think that this black is easy to work with because it is smooth and not flaky at all!

Brush
At first didn't like the dual ended brush, but now it is my absolute favorite! I like the flat end because I can use it to apply the shadows like normal, but I also use the tip of it to apply eyeshadow as eyeliner! This is definitely nice if your traveling and don't have a lot of space for many brushes. The fluffy end is good for a subtle sweep of color and also blending of course! Good job, Urban Decay!

Final thoughts
Overall this is the palette I use everyday. There is not a day that I don't use at least one shade from it. I do sometimes use a color from another palette or something, and it works so nicely with these colors. I have eyes that change from blue to green, and these colors make them pop!

Do I recommend this palette? Yes, absolutely!
You can find the palette here on the Urban Decay website but it can also be purchased at other stores such as Ulta (here) and Sephora (here). :)
