MAC Keepsakes/ Plum eyes review and swatches

Well hello all!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Today I am going to be talking about the Plum eyeshadow palette from the MAC holiday collection. They had a huge collection including 3 different eye palettes, makeup brushes, eye and lip bags, a face palette, and more!

The whole collection has a wonderful glitter theme to the packaging and it is so pretty! I only picked up one item from the collection, and it was really hard for me to decide between the 3 different eye palettes. I had the option between the smokey (with white packaging), plum (with gray packaging), and beige (with black packaging).

Eventually I decided on the plum version:

I have blue eyes that sometimes lean on the green side, and these colors go so nicely and make them pop! I like using the light pink shade all over the lid and then applying the lightest pinky/purple shade over the top. The darker purple shade (third in on the top row) is really nice for the outer corner. On the bottom row I really love all of colors too! The bottom row has more gray shades, and I like to wear the darkest shade on my lower lash line. The shade that I am the least fond of is the last one on the top row- I just have a little trouble incorporating it, that's all!

Swatches:

This is my first time taking swatch photos, so I know they are pretty crappy. I used the e.l.f. eyelid primer underneath.
First row swatches
The first light pink shade didn't show up for some reason, which is disappointing :(

I'm also not sure why the second and third colors are so splotchy. It may be because of the primer I used. Sorry it's not the best!

The brush is ok... if I use it, I only use the dome end to apply the color on the lower lash line. In that sense it works pretty well. The other end is a little scratchy.

I do like the color payoff and I haven't really experienced any fallout either. These colors also work well with the colors in the Naked 2 palette, which I reviewed here.

I really do like the packaging as well. I love the little pearls that go around the edge, and the glitter is pretty secure as well. When I touch the glitter it doesn't flake off, so that's good. I would suggest being careful with it to make sure that the packaging lasts as long as possible, since it is sort of delicate!

Overall thoughts:
I really love this palette. I almost bought the beige and I'm glad that I changed my mind! I really love how the colors look and how I can wear them with any outfit. The palette is slightly on the more pricey side ($39.50) but I really do feel as though it is worth it!

Interested in this palette/collection? You can find it on the MAC website here and I picked my palette up at Macy's! Remember that this collection is limited edition, so snag it while you can!

Let me know what you think!
Take care,
~Katie
